Children, teens, and adults -- we're calling everyone to the dance floor. Our eclectic music selections will include Pop, Rock, Country, Latin, Swing, and more. Have a favorite dance tune? Let us know and we'll add it to the playlist. $5 suggestion donation covers pizza and soda. Bring a friend -- or make a new friend at the party! Don't dance? We'll have chairs around for those who enjoy watching.

We follow an order of service similar to that used in the sanctuary and continue deepening our learning around identity and history in support of our commitment to faithfully build a world free of racism and all forms of oppression.

Last Chapel, we looked at the CUUC identity hexagons (found in the fireside area) to learn about the identities of people in our community. This Sunday, CUUC member, Jina 美春 (Miharu) Polk Accardo, shares about her identity as Japanese-American and her family's experience during implementation of Executive Order 9066, which in 1942 deemed those of Japanese ancestry a threat to national security and led to the incarceration of more than 125,000 individuals. Jina will share the video she made for CUUC on the 50th anniversary of E.O. 9066 and talk about her recent visit to the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles to see the Ireichō, or Sacred Book of Names (pictured here). Those incarcerated or their family or friends can stamp names in the book as a way to counter the erasure of identities. You can read about the Ireichō here and here.

Our guest speaker, Rev. Evin Carvill Ziemer, is CUUC’s primary contact on the UUA Central East Region’s Congregational Life Consultant team. Evin also serves the CER in the areas of Youth Ministry, Young Adult Ministry, and Intercultural Competency work. Evin will be leading the Congregation Forum after worship, where we’ll learn more about the ministerial search process.

The Friday Family Journey Group and the Caring and Sharing Circle invite the congregation to help support a CUUC family facing challenging transitions, with either financial contributions or by providing dinners for four adults starting this Mon Feb 27 through Fri Mar 31.

Inviting Donations

RE families are preparing 70 to-go breakfasts and lunches each month for HOPE Community Services in New Rochelle. We invite the congregation to donate individual-sized food items such as shelf-stable milk, juice, water, fruit cups, and soft granola bars, as well as napkins, loaves of bread, and peanut butter. Leave them in the labeled bins located in the foyer. Frozen items such as French toast, pancakes, waffles, frozen sausages or patties (no pork) can be brought in Saturday morning, December 3rd or as coordinated with Christine Haran (christineharan@yahoo.com).

COVID Safety Update
As the holiday surge has dwindled, we have returned to the metric levels that the CDC characterizes as “Low Community Risk.”
|

While we will continue to monitor the situation, the CUUC COVID Safety Committee is recommending to the Board that we target Sun Mar 12 to transition to a policy of masking optional during service. The Board will review the recommendation in the week preceding the Sun Mar 12 service. For our Religious Exploration programs, we will consider the masking requirements on a class-by-class basis. Celebrating and Supporting LGBTPQIA++ Youth

We are delighted that the PrideWorks Conference for LGBTQ Youth and their Allies returns in person this year! Westchester UUs are the largest collective sponsor of the conference. Thank you! UUs also volunteer, present workshops, and serve on the Planning Committee and Board. Our presence is affirming for UU youth who attend with their school GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) and on their own, and it is an important youth ministry outreach that lets Westchester youth know we are a faith community that welcomes them. If you would like to help with UU activities such as greeting youth with the Side with Love banner as school buses drop off students at 7:15am, contact Jennifer S of the CUUC LGBTQ+ Team (jennifercstevens@gmail.com). Young Voices in Worship
In an initial review of the report from the Self-Assessment Committee, the RE Council noted congregants' interest in having young voices in worship. We think that's a great idea and Rev. Meredith agrees! We are starting by inviting young people to read the chalice lighting and extinguishing words. These dates are open: April 9, 23 & 30; and May 14. Resources for OWL Classes
1st-3rd, 4th-5th and 6th-7th grades
& Parents/Caregivers
One of the core priorities of the OWL curriculum is to encourage communication between children/youth and their parent(s)/caregiver(s). The Homelink resources support that by providing material to continue discussion about class topics at home.

1st-3rd Grade
We are using the K-1 curriculum with our 1st-3rd grade class. This class meets Sunday mornings. The next class is March 19th.
4th-5th and 6th-7th Grade
We are using the 4th-6th curriculum with our 4th-5th and 6th-7th grade classes. This class meets over four Friday evenings. The next class is March 10th.
(Note: The 4th-5th grade Toolbox of Faith class and 6th-7th grade Riddle and Mystery class continue meeting Sunday mornings.)
Parents and Caregivers as Sexuality Educators
This is the corresponding small group ministry for adults, offering opportunity for adults to recall your own questions, feelings, and experiences at the age your children are now, and to be intentional about how you would like to support your child as they have questions and strive to make decisions that are healthy for them. Parents and caregivers may participate in this class even if you do not have a young person attending an OWL classes. This class meets over four Friday evenings. The next class is March 10th.

Exploring the Future of RE at CUUC
