Fall Back
Daylight Savings Time ends this weekend. Reset your clocks one hour back before you go to bed Sat night so you can enjoy your extra rest and join us in person or online at 10:00am (not 9:00am) on Sunday morning. While you're checking clocks, also check your smoke alarm batteries!

We are delighted to welcome Imelda Cruz Avellán onto the RE Council. She will serve as Chair this year and have a central role in our Future of Faith Formation work. Thank you, Imelda!

Halloween Party
What a fun Halloween party we had last Sunday! The Youth Group did a great job decorating the red hallway and setting up activities in the rooms. Below are a few highlights from the musical chairs game, treat table, parade, and sensory room (ghouls' eyeballs, monster brain, zombie ears, and more gross stuff!).

Diane, Hans, and Jessica L welcome young children in childcare. We offer a safe, loving environment where our youngest build community. We wear masks and play outside when weather permits. Childcare will be extended this Sunday for the Board Open House and Path to Our Future Focus Group.

K-7th Grade Chapel
Room 43, Green Hallway
Tracy B and Mary C are leading Chapel, which is an opportunity for our young people to become more familiar with elements of worship as well as experience and participate in worship in ways that meet their developmental needs. The November Journey Group theme is Compassion. We will explore compassion in the context of holiday giving. Mary will tell the children about the parents and grandparents who are clients of the Food Pantry who don't have enough money to buy holiday gifts for their children and grandchildren. For the last several years she has collected used toys that are suitable for families who live in apartments. She will read a story about other children who have too many toys and then we will distribute a large collection of duplos into salad boxes or ziplock bags. Next, we will talk about the children who live at the Coachman Homeless Center in WP and we will decorate envelopes with Holiday Greetings and stickers.
8th-9th Grade Class, Our Whole Lives (OWL)
Room 11, Red Hallway & Meets until 11:45am
Kate C and Cyndi T are leading session 6, Body Image and session 11, Sexuality and Disability. In the session about body image, youth will identify factors that influence someone to have a positive or negative body image, and how body image can influence someone’s sexual health and general health behavior. The session about sexuality and disability introduces the sexual nature and rights of people with disabilities as a social justice issue and increases youth’s capacity to respect and empathize with human differences.
Youth Group, 8th-12th Grade
Room 14, Red Hallway
Max T and Daniel T are joining the youth this Sunday to discuss a possible social justice project to work on this year. Share any ideas you have! They will also have a conversation about democracy and voting.

This is important. Our congregation is in the midst of deep conversations about our future. If we are to live into our intention to build a more diverse congregation, to be more inclusive for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) members, and nurture a more diverse future for our UU faith, we need adults who continue learning so we are well equipped to do the work and include our young people. The Jubilee Three training is an opportunity to model the importance of doing this work in faith community and to support our community in developing a common language and lens to help us move forward together. I hope you will participate with us.

LGBTQ+ Youth Night is a youth-only social & support space for LGBTQ+ and allied youth in 5th-12th grades. Provided in partnership with The LOFT LGBTQ+ Center and WJCS Center Lane. Come out to meet new friends & have fun! Free pizza and snacks provided.
When: LGBTQ+ Youth Night meets on the 1st & 3rd Fridays of every month from 6:30-8:30pm

Covenant Group for
Parents/Caregivers of MS & HS Youth
This covenant group will meet monthly on 2nd Tuesdays to provide space where we can share and support the fullness of each other’s experiences parenting youth.

Nicole T and I will set a theme/topic for each month's discussion (suggestions welcome!) and share an optional short reading ahead of each session that can act as a springboard into discussion. Join the Indigenous Solidarity Network (SURJ, Catalyst Project, Resource Generation) this season to interrogate the legacy of the ‘Thanksgiving’ holiday and hear from frontline Indigenous leaders on how to join efforts to protect land and water at this year's “Rethinking Thanksgiving: From Land Acknowledgement to LANDBACK.” Speakers include Betty Lyons, Tupac Enrique Acosta, Demetrius Johnson, Corrina Gould, and Jake Edwards. Join the PlaceKeepers each month to appreciate, improve, and maintain the building and grounds of CUUC, our spiritual home. Join us at 10:00am for our Gratitude Practice, based on the Haudenosaunee Thanksgiving Address.

Socialize by the Spirit Fire, help tend our springs and paths, or take a walk and watch for wildlife. You are welcome to join us throughout the day. This Saturday is also a Cross Quarter Day. The Spirit Fire Circle will be there for gathering, as will our new Picnic Table now in place on the far side of the stream. Fall Activities
There are so many fun things to during the fall in the Hudson Valley. Pick apples and pumpkins, go through a corn maze, haunted tours, take a drive to enjoy the fall colors, and get fresh apple cider doughnuts. Yum!
