RE News: Sun Sep 24

Lifespan Religious Education

The Jewish High Holiday prayer book explains that for transgressions against God (some UUs might think of this as against Nature, such as littering) you can repent in temple and you will be forgiven. However, for transgressions against another person, you must make amends with that person. This is not always easy or possible, but it stresses that nothing replaces direct human interaction when it comes to understanding and forgiveness. We continue to grapple with the themedf of the month -forgiveness, as we move through the most important days in the Jewish tradition.

Please see the following four (4) announcements:

1) This Sun Sep 24 - Spiritual Practice Sunday
Learning about Obon - The Japanese holiday honoring ancestors.

  • Led by our new Children's Music Director, Lyra Harada.
  • Create origami boats
  • Ritual letting go of the paper boats by the stream.
We will also be honoring the Jewish High Holidays and doing the forgiveness ritual of Tashlich.

Children start in Fellowship Hall and then will be heading down to the stream together.

Youth Group will meet in the Youth Room for their own session related to spiritual practice.
